Tomomi Ganchiku was born in Japan in 1987.
She received her first violin lessons at the age of only three. In 2007 she began her studies with Prof. Yoshio Unno, Prof. Yasuko Ohtani and Keiko Shimada at Tokyo University of Music, majoring in violin. From 2009 to 2011 she received a scholarship there. In 2014 she completed her master’s degree, again majoring in violin, at the University of Music Freiburg, having studied with Simone Zgraggen.
As a violinist Tomomi Ganchiku has played with the Tokyo New City Symphony Orchestra and at the Pacific Music Festival in Japan. From 2013 to 2014 she worked for the SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg as an intern.
In 2006 she won fourth prize at the Classical Music Competition in Japan and in 2011 was awarded first prize at the Music University Competition in Tokyo.
Since 2016 she has played second violin with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra as an academy member.
