Sanae Akita was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1989. She took a bachelor’s degree in violin and viola at the Kobe College music department, graduating with distinction. Since 2014 she has been doing a master’s degree in viola with Prof. Herbert Müller at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna.
She played as an assistant in chamber music classes at two Japanese universities. Solo and chamber music concerts have already taken her to Japan, Russia and Austria.
Sanae Akita has won several competitions, including the Osaka International Music Competition in 2010. In the following year she won third prize in the Japan Classical Music Competition in Tokyo.
She has been part of the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra as an academy member since 2016.
