2nd violin, assistant principal 2nd violin
Steven Mohler was born in Corvallis, USA in 1958.
He started playing the violin at the age of nine and took his bachelor’s degree with Prof. John Ferrell at the University of Arizona, graduating in 1979. He followed that by studying with Prof. Eudice Shapiro at the University of Southern California until 1981. In Vienna he studied with Prof. Klaus Maetzl and Prof. Günter Pichler from 1985.
From 1982 to 1985 he was employed as principal violin in the Philharmonisches Orchester Heidelberg and from 1989 to 1993 was a member of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra.
Since 1994, Steven Mohler has been assistant principal in the second violin section of the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.
