Yoshiko de Swardt was born in Japan in 1959. In 1982 she began studying violin with Prof. Küchel at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. She attended summer courses held by Prof. Zoltan Vegh, Prof. Richard Odnoposoff and Prof. Starr.
Yoshiko de Swardt performs both as a soloist and a chamber musician. She won third prize at the Mainichi competition in Japan.
From 1989 to 1990 she was a violinist with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and from 1990 to 1994 (1./2. violin) with the Bruckner Orchestra in Linz.
She has been assistant principal viola with the Vienna RSO since 1994.
