Kerstin Steinbauer, born in 2001 in Tulln, Austria, began her musical training as an oboist in 2010 at the Tulln Music School with Mag. Eva Griebl-Stich. From 2017 onwards, she continued her studies with Prof. Thomas Höniger at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna, first in the preparatory programme and subsequently in the Bachelor’s degree programme. In January 2025, she transferred within the Bachelor’s programme to study with Clara Dent-Bogányi, with whom she completed her degree in summer 2025.
She further refined her artistic development through masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Ivan Podyomov, François Leleux, Gregor Witt, David Walter, Jean-Louis Capezzali, Christian Wetzel, Albrecht Mayer and Ramón Ortega Quero. Kerstin Steinbauer is a prizewinner of Musica Juventutis at the Vienna Konzerthaus and a multiple first-prize winner of the Austrian competition prima la musica at both regional and national levels.
In 2021, she participated in the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic. From September 2023 to June 2025, she was an Academist with the Vienna Philharmonic, and from September 2025 with the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, before winning the audition for Principal Oboe with the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna in October 2025.
As a regular guest musician, Kerstin Steinbauer has gained valuable professional experience with orchestras including the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, the Vienna Volksoper, the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic.
