We finally ring in our new season 21.22 - with a small trailer that awakens the anticipation for the highlights of the upcoming season!
Our orchestra has planned a diverse program for the 2021.22 season, including four opera productions at the Theater an der Wien, e.g. revival of Benjamin Britten's "Peter Grimes," an International Opera Award-winning hit production from 2016, and Giacomo Puccini's "Tosca" conducted by Ingo Metzmacher. Principal conductor Marin Alsop will perform two major works by Béla Bartók with "her" orchestra, "The Miraculous Mandarin" and his only opera "Duke Bluebeard's Castle". At the Salzburg Festival and Wien Modern, the RSO Vienna performs "Spiegel", the masterpiece by the doyen of contemporary music in Austria, Friedrich Cerha. Anton Bruckner's 3rd and 4th symphonies mark the beginning of a three-year recording of the complete Bruckner works under conductor Markus Poschner.
