Premieres and old favourites in new guises, 20th century classics and chamber music rarities: This is the recipe for the seventh season of the Vienna RSO's chamber music series "Aus nächster Nähe".
Tickets directly at the respective venues ORF RadioKulturhaus and Arnold Schönberg Center
At the Arnold Schönberg Center, Olivier Messiaen's "Quatuor pour la fin du temps" will be performed. A work whose genesis in a prison camp is hardly comprehensible today. To mark the centenary of the IGNM, organist Wolfgang Kogert will give a festive concert with our trombone group at the ORF RadioKulturhaus. Two further concerts will be dedicated to one instrumental group each: the violoncellos will perform excerpts from "Parsifal" with their velvety sound, a violin ensemble will perform melodies from "Carmen" as well as an octet by Andrew Norman at the ORF RadioKulturhaus. The finale will be dedicated to Arnold Schönberg's 150th birthday: a wind ensemble will perform 20th century works at the Arnold Schönberg Center, interwoven with movements from Schönberg's Suite for Piano op. 25.
