Marta Kordykiewicz was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1990.
She received her first cello lessons at the age of seven. She took her bachelor’s degree at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw with Prof. Tomasz Strahl and Rafal Kwiatkowski as teachers. She is currently studying with Prof. Reinhard Latzko at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. She has attended master classes given by Claus Reichardt, Arto Noras, Dominik Połoński, Andrzej Bauer, Valentin Erben, David Geringas, the Camerata Quartett and the Apollon Musagete Quartett. On three occasions, in 2005, 2008 and 2012, she was awarded the scholarship of the Polish Ministry of Culture and the Arts.
As a soloist, Marta Kordykiewicz has performed with the Symphony Orchestra of the Polish National Philharmonic and the Sinfonia Varsovia, and has taken part in numerous music festivals in Poland and elsewhere. Since 2013 she has been a member of the Warsaw Cellonet Group.
She has won numerous awards both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, including first prize at the Contemporary Music Competition in Radziejowice, first prize and the special prize at the Dezyderjusz Danczowski Cello Competition in Poznań, third prize at the Kiejstut Bacewicz International Chamber Music Competition in Łódź and first prize at the Michał Spisak International Music Competition (including two special prizes). In 2014 she was awarded the “artNoble” prize.
Marta Kordykiewicz has been playing for the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2016 as an academy member.
